As a culmination of my studies in the Music Technology program at NYU I completed one last project, a small-format digital multi effects pedal for the guitar. While pedals like this one exist, I wanted a chance to put my electronics, hardware, musical, and computer science knowledge to work and see if I could pull it off. What resulted was the Xfect, a unit about the size of an Electro-Harmonix Big Muff with the capability to house an infinite number of effects, powered by a standard micro USB phone charger. While there are still a great deal of advances that I would like to make in the future in terms of more complex effects and an interface that would orient itself better to live performance use I am happy with the result. Please see the slide presentation and paper below for further information including schematics and other diagrams.
